IRPS 1998 A/V RULES
(FOR ELECTRONIC PRESENTATION VISUALS)

EACH VISUAL (when printed on paper) must comply with:

Format:

Rule 1.1 HORIZONTAL/LANDSCAPE format only. VERTICAL/PORTRAIT will be rejected.

Rule 1.2 Size: Visual (when printed) either 8½" ´ 11" or A4 (210 mm ´ 297 mm).

Rule 1.3 Margins: At least 0.75" (19 mm) margin around visual when printed.

Colors:

Rule 2.1 Black-on-Clear (White) color scheme only. Other color schemes will be rejected. Your Paper Mentor and the Session Chair must approve the use of color on individual visuals to convey additional information. (Examples: Thermal maps, Acoustic images, ...)

Text/Font Sizes and Styles:

Rule 3.1 You should be able to read an 8½" ´ 11" copy (or A4 size) at a distance of 9 feet (3 meters).

Rule 3.2 Font of text, graph label, or equation variable must be at least 24 points (24/72 of an inch).

Rule 3.4 All text must be in Bold format.

Rule 3.4 FONT SELECTION: Choose a simple, bold, sans serif font. For example: Arial or Helvetica (at 24 points).

Rule 3.5 Do NOT use a serif font. For example, do not use Times Roman.

Graphs and Figures:

Rule 4.1 Graphs no more than 10 divisions on each axis (this includes subdivisions).

Other Details:

Rule 5.1 NO AFFILIATION LOGOS or SYMBOLS ARE ALLOWED! Visuals with company or organization logos or symbols will be rejected.

Rule 5.2 REQUIRED four visuals(1st Visual ) Title/Author/Affiliation;
(2nd) Purpose; (3rd) Presentation Outline; (Final Visual) Conclusions.

Rule 5.3 The MAXIMUM number of visuals is 20. Your Paper Mentor and Session Chair must approve more than 20 visuals (Approval granted only under exceptional circumstances).

Rule 5.4 Each visual must have a page number at the bottom right.
